Coverage in newspapers

Newspaper articles in local or regional magazines are often a very cost-effective way to promote the energy community/collective actions to a wider audience.

Find our white label material for this action: factsheet, text modules newspaper article

1Collect and structure the core information about your project

You could use the factsheet templates of our white label material.

2Look for newspapers that the local community reads to get regional news

This could be a municipal or district paper, for example. For time management purposes it is good to keep in mind that a municipal paper might not be published as regularly as daily or weekly papers. Depending on the size of the municipality, it could be every 1-3 months. So if you have a specific milestone the article should line-up with, make sure the newspaper’s next publishing date works for you.

3Reach out to the responsible reporter

You can reach out by mail or phone and ask the reporter about their interest in covering your local energy project. You could mention why the topic is especially relevant now (you are holding an event soon, or the project is about to be set-up and accept members, etc.).

4Provide the reporter with useful and easy-to-process information about your project

Use your prepared factsheet and our text module for newspaper articles. Often you can provide a prepared article that the reporter can adapt according to the newspaper’s requirements.

Tip: To reach farmers or SMEs think of potential media that specifically address these groups, for example, farmers’ newspapers or (small) business newspapers.
