The Bürgerenergiegenossenschaft Freisinger Land eG was founded in 2012 and has steadily expanded its citizen owned power plant park. It currently consists of 8 solar plants with a total output of 2.4 MW. These include 7 rooftop systems and the Paunzhausen citizen solar park next to the A9 motorway in the open space. Another component of the citizens’ power plant is the Kammerberg citizens’ wind turbine with 3 MW. In terms of energy management, this creates a local citizens’ power plant whose plants and types of generation complement each other perfectly. The cooperative is mainly involved in PV projects, serving as a good example on how to cooperate with local organizations.
