The Green Government Bonds as part of the Green Government Securities of Republic of Austria are classified as medium- to long-term instruments that are used to finance or re-finance government expenditures on green projects with greenhouse gas emission reductions, climate change adaptation and environmental goals. Among the eligible for financing project categories are renewable energy and energy efficiency whose impact over the environment will result on climate change mitigation.​
