In the beginning of 2013 and after a series of preparatory meetings, the founding meeting and thus also the first general meeting of the energy cooperative Inn-Salzach eG (short EGIS eG) took place. A total of 153 members subscribed shares at the founding meeting, including the towns of Alt- and Neuötting and the communities of Emmerting and Mehring. Today, the cooperative almost grew to 1,000 members.
The EGIS eG focuses mainly on the construction and maintenance of plants for the production of renewable energies. Since its foundation, 14 projects have already been implemented, including photovoltaic systems, several rooftop systems and a water wheel. Recently, the cooperative invested in new activities related to eMobility and district heating, further expanding their business scope. On top of that, the cooperative also supplies clients with electricity, gas and wood-pellets.
